INSWASH
A fresh collaborative platform aimed at strengthening research and action in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector has been established. The Indonesian Scholars in WASH (INSWASH) network unites researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across Indonesia’s WASH landscape. The network was formally launched on 17 June 2025 in Depok, Jawa Barat.
The concept for this network emerged from the 2023 WASH Indonesia Symposium, which highlighted the importance of science-driven dialogue to strengthen WASH systems that are resilient to climate challenges and connected to global developments.
Established!
The Indonesian Scholars in WASH (INSWASH) network brings together researchers, professionals, and policymakers to foster knowledge exchange and partnership in the WASH sector across Indonesia.
The seminar explored Indonesia’s current WASH policy priorities through the lens of climate change. Discussions focused on systemic challenges such as climate-resilient infrastructure, non-revenue water (NRW), and tools to improve water quality, governance, and sustainable financing. Speakers from both Indonesia and Australia offered comparative insights to enhance mutual understanding and drive innovation in the sector.
The Discussion Continues East.
The quiet city of Kupang buzzed with energy as dozens of people filled the Rectorate Theatre of Nusa Cendana University (UNDANA), while many others tuned in online for a seminar as it was a hybrid event. This wasn’t just another academic event—it was a call to action. The 2nd event of Indonesian Network of Scholars in WASH (INSWASH) hybrid seminar took place under the theme: “Inclusive WASH and GEDSI Leadership”, placing the spotlight on where it is needed the most.
